Black Table are a four-piece experimental black metal band from New York which combines numerous different influences and genres under their own unique banner. The band itself consists of Michael Kadnar who also plays drums for Downfall of Gaia and Number Twelve Looks Like You, as well as Mers Sumida on vocals and guitar, Ryan Fleming on the second guitar and bass player DJ Scully. Since their formation in 2010 Black Table have played numerous shows including appearances across the United States and an extensive European tour. Now six years after the band‘s formation, Black Table are up to release the successor to their „Sentinel“ LP from 2013. „Obelisk“ was recorded by Billy Anderson (Melvins, Neurosis, Sleep, High on Fire, Leviathan) in the Dillinger Escape Plan Backroom Studios in New Jersey. The mix and mastering process was done by Colin Marston (Krallice, Kayo Dot, Agalloch) in the Menegroth The Thousand Caves Recording Studios. To describe Black Table‘s new LP musically, an unleashed storm is with certainty the most fitting metaphor for what the four New Yorkers have written and produced over the last three years. Double bass parts which alternate with blast beats form the foundation for the furious yet melodic rif" ng and Sumida‘s drastic vocalic intonations. Occasional atmospheric parts surface just partially to enable a short breath right before the band dives into the next shattering black metal influenced riffing. Black Table‘s „Obelisk“ will be out on Moment of Collapse Records and Silent Pendulum Records by the 14th of October 2016.
