CALYSS - Vessel Of Theseus LP

This five-piece outfit has deep roots in the DIY punk and hardcore subculture, skillfully navigating the intersection of post-metal, post-hardcore, sludge, and doom. Their songs thrive on a dynamic interplay: massive, cathartic walls of sound build slowly from minimalist, melancholic passages—a constant ride balancing control, emotional escalation, and total collapse. Conceptually, the album—clocking in at just under 35 minutes—explores profound themes. Inspired by Mary Shelley’s *Frankenstein*, the Prometheus myth, and the philosophical paradox of the "Ship of Theseus," the five tracks revolve around identity, transformation, and destruction. Since forming in early 2024, Calyss have rapidly established themselves in the underground scene, playing shows ranging from Bremen to Copenhagen. Live highlights to date include supporting Svalbard on the MS Stubnitz and sharing the stage with OvO. Upcoming plans for the band include a performance at Fusion Festival 2026 and a support slot for Deafheaven.
