Since their start in 2010, Hexis have played nearly 1,000 shows, earning a reputation as tireless road warriors of the blackened hardcore/black metal scene thanks to their uncompromising DIY ethos. "Aeturnum," the Copenhagen-based band's fourth album (initially released in 2022), distills this experience into an exceptionally dense and crushing sound.

Violent hardcore, bleak black metal, somber post-metal, and dark ambient collide with bass-driven industrial and the relentless directness of grind. Rather than neatly separating these influences, Hexis allow them to bleed into one another, creating a constant tension between explosive violence and oppressive atmosphere. The result is dynamic yet cohesive—far more than a mere stringing together of extreme stylistic elements. At the core lies the unleashed yet precise vocal delivery of bandleader Filip Andersen; his vocals lend an immediate emotional dimension to the already massive compositions. Lyrically, "Aeturnum" leads the listener into a desolate world of disillusionment, despair, and hatred—a nightmare with no hope of redemption. This is precisely where the album draws its power: Hexis do not merely make decay and degradation the subject of their music; they transform them into raw, visceral energy. "Aeturnum" is dark, brutal, and uncompromising—yet equally controlled and compelling.
